In this video, we’ll show you how to set up a worm farm so you can recycle kitchen scraps to make fertiliser for your garden.

First, unpack the worm farm. Make sure you keep the cardboard packaging as you’ll need it later. Take out the legs, bedding block and instructions, and keep these handy.
Attach the legs by inserting them into to the base of the collector tray. Flip over the worm farm, then screw on the tap. Insert one working tray, and save the others for later.
Hydrate the bedding block by placing it in a bucket of water for 15 minutes. Fold the cardboard packaging and put it in the working tray, then spread the bedding on top. Don’t worry, the worms will eventually eat the cardboard.
Add the worms and spread them gently. Don’t feed them yet, as they’ll need time to settle in.
Finally, cover them with a hessian blanket to retain moisture.
After a week, lift the blanket and spread a handful of kitchen scraps over the worms each day. Extract the liquid using the tap, dilute it with water 10 parts water and use it on the garden.
