If you’re a handyman or handywoman, chances are you have more than one cordless tool. With multiple drills, screwdrivers, sanders and jigsaws on hand, you’ll have just as many batteries and chargers to deal with.

There are new cordless tool systems that allow the same battery to be used for a large range of tools, but if your supply of cordless tools features batteries that aren’t interchangeable, then you’ll need a system to organise them all in the one place.

The solution is a drill charging station, like the one pictured above. All you need to do is dedicate an area of your shed, workshop or home for your chargers by installing or taking advantage of a small shelf.

Set up a powerboard nearby and plug all the chargers in so they’re ready to use whenever the battery goes flat. Arrange the chargers and batteries, adding a second, smaller shelf above for charged batteries if you have the space.

Most battery chargers also have mounting holes underneath, meaning you can attach your chargers to the wall to save space. You can even use a pegboard to hold chargers, making it easier to change the configuration if you acquire new tools.
