Turn A Magazine Rack Into A Flower Frame
Handyman’s Lee Dashiell had an old metal magazine rack collecting dust.
‘It had a nice shape so I turned it into a planter. I applied a primer then sprayed it with two coats of metal paint to prevent rust.’
Lee secured the rack to a pergola post, lined it with coconut fibre and planted it with petunias.
Step 1. Prepare the rack
Prepare the rack by cutting coconut fibre to fit, making small drainage holes in the base. Add potting mix to about two-thirds full then position the liner in the rack.
Step 2. Make Planting Holes
Make planting holes and add petunias in two colours, teasing the rootballs first to help them establish. Fill each liner with more mix to just below the rim and water in well.
