As a pool owner, concerned mum and dad or landlord, the onus is on you to ensure the pool is fenced to legal requirements.

In NSW alone there are 3 different Pool Safety Standards you must legally adhere to, depending on when the pool was constructed.

The aim of such legislation is to ensure pool access is restricted to those who may not be confident in and around the water and owners and responsible adults have a second line of defence and peace of mind when kids are playing in the backyard.

Swimming pool fence rules are based on Australian Standards AS 1926.1 – 2007 and AS 1926.2 – 2012. These standards are not law; they are guidelines on which local councils base their regulations.

The actual requirements for pool fencing may vary slightly from one local council to the next.

You can find your local councils requirements by visiting your local council’s website.

Before summer gets into full swing, Royal Life Saving and Protector Aluminium are targeting every home pool owner with a basic reminder to check, fix and maintain their home pool and surrounds.

Protector pool fencing is the only pool fencing in partnership with Royal Lifesaving Australia.

Aesthetically pleasing, safe and most of all secure, all Protector Aluminium Pool Panels and Gates made since 2016 have been redesigned to increase their strength using the Ulti-M8 ultra strength core system.

The upgrade features using additional inner ribs to all pickets plus top and bottom rails, with all panels exceeding the current Australian standard.

The fencing solution features 27 pickets per panel, with each picket a ribbed 16mm tube.

Two fence and rail profiles are available from Bunnings off the shelf, with a further 20 styles available in Australia through custom orders.

Available off the shelf at Bunnings Warehouse, or visit Protector Aluminium for details.
