Get the most out of your backyard
Backyard Pods

Backyard Pods don’t require concrete slabs to build on and have superior structural integrity due to their approach to using foundation piers and flooring and framing systems.

Backyard Pods can be installed yourself, with DIY backyard pod kits starting from $3,348. Each pre-fab kit includes the flooring system and floor, framed walls and cladding, roof and guttering, some Sisalation and insulation as well as all the nuts and bolts you need.

They come in a wide array of Colorbond™ colours, with sizes ranging from 2.5m wide to 4.5m wide and up to 14m long.

According to current legislation, if a Backyard Pod is the under 10sqm in VIC/QLD and under 20sqm in NSW (non-habitable) it is ‘pre-approved’. In addition, being ‘Class 1 Certified’ means customers can use pod kits when seeking approval for a residential building.

Different legislation applies to each state and territory, so click here to find the legislation that applies to you.

Melanie Williamson from Backyard Pods says they are her long-term dream made real.

“Everyone can easily enjoy an extra room, music studio, garden flat, or whole house made from practical materials, at an affordable price, with a nice design ethic, great energy efficiency, and plenty of options for customisation,” she says.

“We bring together some of Australia’s most trusted manufacturers and distribution channels with a carefully-engineered range of products, inspired by cost-effective sustainability.

“By not needing concrete slabs, our Backyard Pods do indeed touch the Earth lightly, but also with great structural integrity due to our unique foundation piers and beautifully-engineered flooring and framing system.”
